Grade 11 Student Injured in After Being Stabbed by Fellow Student
A Grade 11 student was injured after a stabbing incident inside Cavite National High School, raising concerns about student safety and security.
According to the Cavite City Police, the victim, an 18-year-old student, suffered wounds to his arm and back after being attacked by a fellow Grade 11 student. Investigators said the incident stemmed from a long-standing conflict between the suspect and the victim.
Authorities learned that before the stabbing took place, the suspect had reportedly challenged another student, who was a friend of the victim, to a fistfight. The situation gets worse when the students encounter each other inside the school grounds.
“Nagsabi daw itong suspek na kita tayo bukas ,yun na magsuntukan daw sila. Ito kasing suspek nagkaroon ng kaaway naman ng panibago na kaibigan din ng dati niyang kaalitan itong biktima,” Cavite City Police Station Chief PLt. Col. Socrates Jaca said.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a bladed weapon while arguing with the group. In the chaos that followed, the victim was injured.
Teachers and school security personnel quickly stepped in to stop the disturbance before it could become even more serious. Their immediate response helped prevent further harm to other students who were present during the incident.
Police officers soon arrived at the scene and arrested the 18-year-old suspect. Authorities also recovered a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack.
The injured student was first taken to Bautista Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the nature of his injuries, he was later transferred to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for further medical care.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division Office of Cavite City said it is coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities to ensure a thorough investigation. School officials have also been instructed to provide counseling and psychosocial support to students and families affected by the incident.
The suspect is now facing a frustrated homicide case as the police continue their investigation. The stabbing happened shortly after another separate school-related stabbing incident in General Trias City, where seven students were injured.
Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered police units nationwide to strengthen security measures and increase police visibility around schools to help prevent similar cases in the future.
