VP Sara Duterte Confirms 3 Dutertes Eye Senatorial Bid
VP SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President announced that her father, former PRRD, and her brothers, Paolo and Baster, will run for senator in 2025.
One of the most well-known political clans in the Philippines is the Duterte family. Currently, the member of the family who secured the highest position is Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Under the Marcos Administration, the Vice President was also appointed as the chief of the Department of Education (DepEd). She’s also appointed as the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
However, a week ago, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte resigned as the DepEd Secretary. She also left the Marcos cabinet as she also resigned from being the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
Currently, there are speculations if VP Sara Duterte will run for the presidency in the next national elections in the Philippines. Undeniably, countless people most especially the residents of Davao City aspire for her presidential bid.
Amid the speculations on the next political bid of the Vice President, Duterte-Carpio announced that three (3) Dutertes will run in the senatorial race next year. The 2025 Midterm Elections will be held.
Based on a report on GMA News, VP Sara Duterte confirmed in an interview in Cagayan de Oro that her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and her brothers, Paolo and Baste, will run for senator next year.
Currently, Paolo “Pulong” Duterte is the representative of the First District of Davao City in the lower chamber. Baste Duterte is the current mayor of Davao City.
Prior to becoming the chief executive of the Philippines, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has also served as mayor of Davao City. He has served the city for decades. The same thing is true in the case of VP Sara who has also served as the mayor of Davao before she secured the 2nd highest government position in the country.
Baste was the Vice Mayor of Davao when Inday Sara was still the Mayor. The Duterte siblings have a half-sister, Kitty Duterte, from their father’s relationship with his common-law partner, Honeylet Avanceña.
