Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, October 31, 2023
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Following the 4.5 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Norte a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Davao Occidental today. It had a magnitude of 4.5.
The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 01:11 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Balut Island in Sarangani.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.08°North, 125.84°East – 059 km South 52° East of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 114 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded by the quake bureau as well.
