Phone Snatcher in Quezon City Located and Arrested with the Assistance of a Heroic Rider
A heroic rider earns praise from the online community for helping to locate and arrest a phone snatcher in Quezon City.
A phone snatcher targeting a 16-year-old Grade 10 student in West Fairview, Quezon City, was arrested thanks to the help of a compassionate motorcyclist. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
The victim accompanied by a friend, was walking in the West Fairview area on a Monday afternoon (September 11). The student momentarily took out her cell phone to send a message to her mother.
Unfortunately, the suspect, riding a motorcycle, seized the opportunity to snatch the mobile phone. The victim and her mother immediately reported the incident to the police authorities. The student holds photographs taken by a concerned motorcyclist who witnessed the incident.
The police authorities used the photos to locate the snatcher. The suspect, identified as Michael Degras, was arrested during a follow-up operation conducted by the police in Barangay Santa Lucia.
The authorities found a loaded firearm and the motorcycle used in the crime, matching the description captured in the photographs provided by the vigilant motorcyclist.

However, the stolen cellphone, valued at over P20,000, could not be recovered. The suspect claimed to have sold the device for only P1,500. Degras denied any connection to the firearm found in his possession and insisted on his innocence.
Currently, the suspect faces charges of robbery-snatching and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
