Xyriel Manabat Opens Up About the Four Chest Piercings That Shocked Her Family
XYRIEL MANABAT – One of Xyriel Manabat’s boldest decisions in life left permanent marks on her body, but not a single ounce of regret in her heart.
Actress Xyriel Manabat recently opened up about one of the most rebellious moments of her life—getting four piercings on her chest without informing her family beforehand.
During the mediacon for the iWant original series Miss Behave, starring Alexa Ilacad, Xyriel candidly recalled how she initially kept the decision a secret from her parents, knowing it would likely surprise them.
“Ako siguro, nu’ng sinurprise ko na lang yung parents ko na may apat na piercing ako sa chest ko. Kasi hindi nila alam yun.
“Umuwi ako naka-turtleneck tapos nakita na lang nila na pinost na nung studio. Sabi sa akin, ‘Ano yung nasa dibdib mo? Piercing ba yun?’” said Xyriel.
The actress admitted that she even went to great lengths to hide the piercings during the first few days after getting them. According to her, she wore thick clothing despite the heat just to keep them from being discovered.
“Nu’ng umuwi ako, kumakain ako ng lunch ng naka-napakainit na jacket kasi para hindi nila malaman. Pero mga two days lang. Wala na siya, ni-reject (ng katawan). Pero umabot siya sa one year po!” the actress said.
Although the piercings eventually lasted for about a year, her body ultimately rejected them. Despite this, Xyriel revealed that she never regretted having them in the first place.
Xyriel Manabat shared that if her body had not rejected the dermal piercings, she would have gladly had them done again. For her, the experience was something she embraced, even if it shocked her family at the time.
However, the situation eventually became more complicated after the piercings developed an infection. The dermal piercings also left keloid scars on her chest, making the experience a painful lesson.
Because of the complications and permanent marks left behind, Xyriel said she has no plans of repeating the procedure. While she remains unapologetic about her past decision, she has learned from the experience and has chosen not to undergo chest piercings again.
