Sleeping Construction Worker Accidentally by Drunk BJMP Jail Officer in a Bar
A sleeping construction worker allegedly died after he was accidentally shot by a jail officer during the commotion in a bar in Nueva Vizcaya.
According to the story, a construction worker was killed after a Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) Ifugao employee accidentally shot him in a pub. The victim was identified as Roger Dela Cruz, 31, a resident of Barangay Bonfal West, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, with a live-in partner.
Meanwhile, the gunman has been identified as Jail Officer 1 Kevin Mark Allaga, 26, of Tiger Hill Ifugao District Jail. According to the investigation, Allaga was with a group of two pupils whose identities have been withheld for the time being.
One of the students is a 22-year-old resident of Barangay Ambabag in Kiangan, Ifugao, and the other is a 20-year-old who is also a resident of Brgy. Almaguer, North, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. According to PCapt Paul Pawid, spokesperson for the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office (NVPPO), a number of BJMP employees had been drinking inside the Bar prior to the incident.
However, while they were having a good time, there was a ruckus that resulted in a beating of the suspects in another group within the pub. The problem started because one of Jail Officer 1’s coworkers scooped up ‘powder’ that was being thrown at other persons drinking at the bar.
When JO1’s crew exited the pub, it allegedly pulled out the provided pistol, a Gloc 17 9mm, and fired indiscriminately numerous times. The victim was killed in an accident while sleeping quietly on the side of the road, and it was claimed that he had been drinking.
After the shooting, the suspects managed to flee but eventually surrendered to authorities. They are now being held in the Bayombong Poluce Station’s lock-up cell while the Homicide case is being prepared.
