PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Tuesday (April 11, 2023)
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area off Southern Luzon developed into Tropical Depression Amang.
On Tuesday (April 11, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The tropical depression will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA reported that the Tropical Depression Amang was last spotted 475 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. The weather system is moving west northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.
“Ngayong araw, ine-expect natin na makararanas na ng mga pag-ulan na may kasamang bugso ng malalakas na hangin ang area ng Northern Samar at Eastern Samar,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
Amang has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It is the first tropical cyclone for 2023 in the Philippines.
The tropical depression will bring rains and gusty winds over Northern and Eastern Samar. It will also bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Central Visayas and the rest of Eastern Visayas.
The weather disturbance and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.
“Hindi natin inaalis iyong possibility na magkaroon tayo ng landfall scenario sa Bicol Peninsula area or sa northern portion ng Samar Island,” she added
The weather agency raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in the following areas:
- Catanduanes
- Northern portion of Eastern Samar
- Eastern portion of Northern Samar
Meanwhile, the weather bureau has raised a gale warning in the eastern seaboard of Catanduanes, the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar, and the eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar.
