Iloilo City to Investigate High School Students Seen in Viral Esplanade Video
Two high school students were caught on camera engaging in inappropriate behavior at Esplanade 11 in Barangay Progreso, Lapuz, Iloilo City.
The Iloilo City Government will conduct an investigation after a video showing two high school students engaging in inappropriate acts circulated online. The incident quickly gained attention on social media, prompting local authorities to take action.
City officials said they are looking into the matter and are also focusing on ways to prevent similar incidents from happening in public areas.
General Services Office (GSO) head Engineer Neil Ravena explained that although Esplanade 11 has not yet been officially turned over by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 to the Iloilo City Government, they are already preparing measures to improve security in the area.
According to Ravena, the city government does not want the incident to happen again and is working closely with different offices to strengthen monitoring and public safety along the Esplanade.
He also shared that he has coordinated with the Public Order and Safety Management Office (POSMO), headed by Retired Colonel Uldarico Garbanzos, to discuss ways of increasing security while the area remains under transition.
Aside from coordination with city offices, the GSO is also planning to work with the barangay to explore the possible deployment of barangay tanods. Their presence is expected to help improve monitoring and discourage inappropriate activities in the area.
Officials believe that having more personnel assigned to the Esplanade can help maintain order and provide a safer environment for residents and visitors who use the public space for walking, exercise, and recreation.
Once Esplanade 11 is officially turned over to the city government, regular green guards are expected to be deployed in the area. These personnel will be responsible for helping maintain security, cleanliness, and the overall welfare of the public.
