Repeat Theft Suspect Returns in Jail Stealing Canned Goods From Convenience Store
A repeat theft suspect was arrested once again after he was allegedly caught stealing canned food products from a convenience store in Cebu City.
On the morning of July 20, 2026, the 35-year-old suspect entered the store and allegedly picked several premium canned goods from the shelves of a convenience store along Gorordo Avenue in Barangay Lahug before attempting to leave without paying.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jeremy Pepito, a resident of Barangay Tisa, Cebu City. The items reportedly taken included different brands of luncheon meat and corned beef with a combined value of more than P2,000.
Store personnel became suspicious after noticing that the man was heading toward the exit without stopping at the cashier. The store manager quickly responded and followed the suspect outside the establishment.
The suspect was prevented from leaving and was later turned over to responding police officers.
The suspect was brought to the Mabolo Police Station for documentation and further investigation. Authorities discovered that this was not the first time the man had been arrested for a similar offense.
Police records showed that the suspect had already been detained at the station several times in the past in connection with theft-related cases.
Investigators revealed that this latest arrest marked the fifth time he had been held for similar allegations, raising concerns about repeated offenses and the challenges of preventing repeated crimes.
