Remulla Says Sandiganbayan Denies Motion to Quash Filed by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta amid Plunder Case
RODANTE MARCOLETA – Secretary of Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla confirmed the arrest of the Senator at the Sandiganbayan.
The Ombudsman has officially filed a plunder case against Sen. Marcoleta. The charges is over the P75 million election campaign donations received by the Senator which was not declared in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).

According to Marcoleta, some of the donors of the P75 million campaign donation are his friends who prefer to be anonymous. He previously stressed that he is ready to face arrest and imprisonment.
Sen. Rodante Marcoleta even said that an arrest and imprisonment will allegedly be small sacrifices to show the Filipino people of their worth. He made the statement at the rally held by the members of Iglesia ni Cristo to show support to him.

Thousands of INC members previously rally along EDSA to show their support to the Senator after Ombudsman Boying Remulla announced the possibility of filing plunder charges against the Senator. Through a statement, the Ombudsman stressed that the Senator himself had admissions of receiving a multi-million donation.

According to the Ombudsman, they cannot simply let it the admissions of the Senator pass. In its statement, the office stressed that there were three (3) paychecks totaling to P75 million donated to the Senator.
Recently, SILG Jonvic Remulla confirmed that Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was arrested. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Senator appeared before the Sandiganbayan on Monday to face the non-bailable plunder case filed against him for the hearing on his motions to quash the information charging him of plunder.

According to Remulla, the Sandiganbayan Third Division denied the motion to quash of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta. Based on the report, SILG Jonvic Remulla revealed that the Senator was immediately arrested.
“Was he arrested or did he surrender? It was both. He went there voluntarily sa Sandiganbayan to file a motion to quash, subsequently when it was denied, we closed down the building, we arrived, we arrested him,” Remulla said.
Previously, some senators in the minority bloc also joined the protest in support for Marcoleta. One of them is presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos who slammed the government led by her own brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, during a speech at the INC rally.
