Win Gatchalian spoke about the VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial
Senate President Win Gatchalian stated that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte may take seven months.
This meant that the whole process may drag on until February next year. The Senate will serve as an Impeachment Court, and the trila will start on July 7.
Based on the report from The Manila Times, on Sunday, the Senate President stated that the chamber has to pass important legislative measures, and so the trial will take seven months to finish.

Among the important legislative measures they have to attend to is the proposed 2027 national budget. They will also conduct public hearings on some amendment proposals such as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, in line with the tragic incident that happened at a school on Tacloban City, in which two male students had their shooting spree that resulted in death of three other students.
It was also mentioned that the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is set to resume its investigation on the alleged anomalous projects. “That’s why we are studying how we can expedite the impeachment trial because the Senate is not only occupied with the impeachment. We also have to tackle proposed laws,” Sen. Win Gatchalian said.
On the other hand, the Senate President said that they will insist on finishing the preliminaries, and on Monday, June 29, they will issue the pre-trial order.

“We will give both camps three days to file their comments. And then after that we will prepare for the impeachment this coming July 6,” Gatchailian stressed.
The Senate President also said that they will start tackling the 2027 General Appropriations Bill, and he said that this is one of the most difficult activities of the Senate.
With this, they are really studying it, and they will consult the prosecution and defense on how they can shorten the process. They are also aiming to lower the number of witnesses. He mentioned that 10,000 pieces of evidence were marked.
