Kaye Abad Opens Up About Her Decision to Leave Showbiz W/ No Regrets
KAYE ABAD – Leaving showbiz while at the peak of her career was not an easy decision for many celebrities, but for Kaye Abad, it was exactly what she wanted.
Kaye Abad has revealed that she never felt even the slightest regret about stepping away from the showbiz industry more than a decade ago, saying that becoming a homemaker had long been part of the life she envisioned for herself.
During the latest episode of “KC After Hours” on Saturday, August 15, Kaye shared that she was only 18 years old when she already began imagining herself leaving acting behind.

“Sabi ko, parang nakikita ko na hindi na siguro ako mag-aartista. ‘Yon ‘yong lagi kong sinasabi. […] I really wanted to be a housewife,” said Kaye.
Her desire to build a family became even stronger after she married “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” runner-up and businessman Paul Jake Castillo and eventually moved to Cebu with him. For Kaye, the province offered the kind of lifestyle she had always wanted.
“I like it [Cebu] because if you want a city life, there’s a city life. If you want beach and relaxing life, malapit lang din,” the actress said.
Kaye said her dream of becoming a homemaker was also influenced by her mother, whom she saw growing up taking care of their family by cooking and doing other household responsibilities.
During the interview, Kapamilya broadcast journalist Karmina Constantino asked whether Kaye ever regretted leaving a career she had worked hard to build.
“Hindi ako nanghinayang,” said Kaye. “Katulad ng sinabi ko kanina, nasa peak ako ng career ko when I left. I did ‘Two Wives’ na nag-hit. That’s why they said balik lang. They even offered me another show.”
She added, “First time kong nag-lead that time for teleserye. Sabi nga kinausap nila ako na, ‘Huwag. Sayang, Kaye. Ito na ‘yon. Nandito ka na. Ikaw na ‘to. Bida ka na.’ Sabi ko, hindi talaga.”
For Kaye, her desire to start a family ultimately outweighed the opportunities waiting for her in showbiz. After years in the industry, she chose to prioritize the personal life she had always dreamed of.
Kaye took a three-year break from showbiz after starring in the 2015 teleserye “Two Wives.” She returned in 2019 with a guest appearance in ABS-CBN’s daytime drama series “Nang Ngumiti ang Langit.”
Meanwhile, Kaye publicly shared her breast cancer journey through a birthday vlog in May. She revealed that it began when she experienced severe stomach pain, which she initially thought was merely acidity.
However, the pain reportedly lasted for nearly six hours, prompting her to seek medical attention.
