Traffic Enforcer to Face Charges After Attacking Team Leader Over Salary Deduction

A traffic enforcer is now facing serious charges after attacking his team leader following a dispute over salary deductions in Sofronio Española, Palawan.

On April 16, 2026, the incident happened behind the municipal hall in Barangay Pulot Center. The suspect, identified as Alyas Randy, reportedly became enraged after discovering that there were deductions in his salary.

According to a report from the Sofronio Española Municipal Police Station, the suspect confronted his team leader, Alyas Ronnie, about the issue. However, instead of a calm discussion, his frustration quickly turned into anger.

Randy suddenly attacked Ronnie with a bladed weapon, leaving the victim seriously injured. Police investigation later revealed that the salary deductions were due to Randy’s recorded absences and late arrivals at work.

These were reflected in his Daily Time Record, which serves as the basis for computing wages. The team leader was responsible for signing and verifying these records, which may have led the suspect to blame him directly.

Authorities also found that the two had an existing conflict even before the incident. This tension likely made the argument worse and contributed to the sudden outburst of violence.

Investigators believe the attack was not purely impulsive. Randy reportedly brought a weapon with him when he approached the victim, suggesting that there was intent to cause serious harm.

The victim survived the attack but sustained injuries that required immediate attention. Meanwhile, the suspect is now under police custody and is facing a frustrated murder charge.

The incident emphasizes how misunderstandings in the workplace can escalate if not handled properly. It reminds the public of the importance of addressing concerns calmly and through proper channels, especially when it comes to sensitive matters like salary and work responsibilities.
