Robin Padilla Shrugs Off Insults & Rallies Behind Rowena Guanzon’s Senate Bid
ROBIN PADILLA – In a surprising turn of events, Robin Padilla set aside past criticisms to endorse Rowena Guanzon for a possible Senate run.
Senator Robin Padilla has publicly expressed his full support for Rowena Guanzon amid her reported intention to run for senator, despite past criticisms she allegedly directed at him during the 2022 national elections.
Padilla, who topped the senatorial race in 2022, addressed the issue in a Facebook post on Tuesday, March 31. He reflected on his personal experiences with public criticism, including being labeled as having “low IQ” or low intelligence quotient. Rather than harboring resentment, the senator emphasized that he does not take such remarks to heart.

Sharing his perspective as a Muslim, Padilla explained that enduring criticism and oppression is viewed as a blessing in Islam, as it strengthens faith and earns spiritual rewards. He drew parallels to the experiences of Prophet Muhammad, noting how adversity can deepen one’s devotion.
“Hindi ko po ikinakasakit ng damdamin ang mga ipinupukol sa akin bagkus ako po ay naliligayahan dahil katulad ng sinapit na pag maltrato sa propeta muhamad saw ay tumataas pa ang aking pananampalataya at ipinagdarasal ko na lamang ang nararamdaman na pang aapi.”
Despite their previous differences, Padilla openly endorsed Guanzon, stressing her importance not only to Sara Duterte but also to the Filipino people.
“Si atty guanzon ay kailangan ni VP sara duterte at ng mga Pilipino,” he said.
The senator also highlighted Guanzon’s legal expertise, comparing her capabilities to well-known figures in the Philippine legal and political landscape, including Vic Rodriguez, Salvador Panelo, Harry Roque, Larry Gadon, and Jimmy Bondoc.
Padilla further underscored his belief that worldly praise is insignificant compared to divine judgment, reinforcing his faith-driven outlook on life and public service.
“Never mind the praises of this world. What matters is the judgement of Allah,” Robin said.

In closing, Padilla reiterated his call for public support for Guanzon in the 2028 elections.
Meanwhile, it can be recalled that on Sunday, March 29, Guanzon once again voiced her support for Vice President Duterte, who has expressed her intention to run for president in 2028. Before this, the lawyer had already hinted at her own senatorial bid during a public event.
Interestingly, in September 2025, Guanzon and Padilla crossed paths, where the lawyer admitted she had come to understand why the actor-turned-politician emerged as the top senator in 2022.
