Benjie Paras Reveals Why His Sons Kobe Paras & Andre Paras Are Afraid to Marry
KOBE PARAS – Growing up apart from their mother, Kobe and Andre only bonded with her as young adults, shaping their views on family and commitment.
Celebrity siblings Kobe and Andre Paras reportedly have no plans of getting married, according to their father, Benjie Paras, who shared that the two young men were traumatized by his past separation from Jackie Forster. For context, Kobe and Andre only bonded with their mother, Jackie, when they were already grown up, as they did not get to spend much time with her during their childhood.
In an online show, “Men’s Room,” available on the YouTube channel of One News PH and hosted by Stanley Chi and Janno Gibbs (with Gibbs absent during the episode), Benjie Paras filled in while Raymond Bagatsing joined as their guest.
The topic of discussion centered on Raymond’s own experience of not having a family due to trauma from a previous marriage that ended in separation, along with his inability to have children. Raymond explained, “Maybe (trauma) kasi minsan naisip ko na bakit I don’t have a family minsan naiinggit ka but siguro you go through some kind of depression to some point na, ‘ano ba, may diperensiya ba ako?’ Because everybody has a family (now) mga kaibigan mo.
“Na-realize ko how to embrace whatever is given to me. Sa family namin may mga matandang binata, matandang dalaga, hindi naman ‘yun ang puntirya ko siguro complicated din kasi I’m into meditation, I’m into really my craft tapos on the side nahihikayat pa sa politics, so, I think it’s very complex, so, for me in an ideal way para sa akin kung hindi ko kayang bigyan ng 100% ang pamilya, ‘wag na lang ako mag-pamilya muna,” he added.
Benjie then brought up his two sons, saying, “Yung mga anak ko ‘yung dalawa as of now 30 and 28 (ages) na parang ‘yung marriage para sa kanila nakikita kong sabi nila parang na-trauma sila because of my past experiences.”
Raymond shared his personal perspective, saying, “I was like that. I came from a broken family iniinda ko ‘yun that’s why I became an artist. ‘Yung iba hindi nila iniinda ‘yun but because of I was an artist, iniinda ko ‘yung pighati ng batang ‘yun. Hindi na ako pero nasa loob ko (subconscious).”
Benjie concluded, “Kaya nga kinakausap ko sila sabi ko hindi naman lahat ganu’n (tulad ng nangyari sa amin ng mom nila), ‘yun ang tumatak sa kanila kaya hindi ko rin naman sila masisi kaya ini-ntindi ko na lang. Pero kung happy sila sabi ko go ahead.”
Currently, Andre is in a non-showbiz relationship with Honey Escarez, and the couple will celebrate three years together this coming May. Meanwhile, Kobe has been linked to Elisse Joson, ex-girlfriend of McCoy de Leon, though there is no official statement from either party.
