Ahead of it ending, Christopher De Leon exits “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”
Screen veteran Christopher de Leon is Ramon Montenegro in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” and exits the series ahead of its grand finale.
Actor-director Coco Martin confirmed in an interview that his top-rated series, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, will air its final episode on March 13, 2026. The series had a good and successful run for more than three years, and Tanggol’s story will soon come to an end.
With only a week left as of this writing, Christopher De Leon, who plays Ramon Montenegro, the father of Tanggol, in the series, exits the series. He’s been a part of the series for three years, and ahead of its finale, his character dies, which creates a meaningful turn in the story of Tanggol’s life.
In an interview, he expressed how grateful he is to the series and to Coco for trusting him to play the said character. He thanked “Senyor Coco” for trusting him with this project and for giving him the role of his father in the series.
He is also thankful for the experience, his kindness, and for not hiding who he truly is from them. The screen veteran added, “Salamat at hindi mo itinago sa amin ang iyong pagkatao as Coco Martin na nakita namin ang husay ng iyong leadership bilang director, aktor, producer, writer, everything. Nakita namin how you handle it. Hats off ako sa iyo. Thank you for this project and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
De Leon attests to how genius Coco is being on the set. Even after spending 40 years in the industry, he still learned a lot from him when he joined the series.
He shared, “Isa sa natutunan namin dito sa ‘Batang Quiapo’ is how to love your work. Kung kukuha kayo ng trabaho, kumuha kayo ng trabaho na gustong-gusto niyong gawin.”
This also made him feel grateful for being entrusted with the role. He believes he was able to portray the character well, and if there is one piece of advice he would like to share, it is to love your work and take pride in doing a job that is honorable and dignified.
In the Friday episode of the series, Ramon was killed by Roberto, played by Albert Martinez, as the group of Tanggol attempted to remove the Guerreros from power in Manila.
