Derek Ramsay ‘The Kingdom’ Series on TV5 Cancelled – Source

Is it true that the TV comeback of Derek Ramsay not yet happened?

A reliable source confirmed that The Kingdom series, which will feature actor Derek Ramsay, was cancelled.

Derek took a break from making movies and series for quite some time. The last movie that he did was the thriller film Kampon in 2023, while his last series was in 2019, The Better Woman, with his ex-girlfriend, Kapuso actress Andrea Torres.

Late last year, it was reported that Derek would have his TV comeback, and this is through the series The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo, which was based on the MMFF movie The Kingdom, featuring Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual.

In the series version, Derek Ramsay was supposed to work with Piolo Pascual, but a source revealed that the partnership between TV5 and APT, for the series The Kingdom, will no longer continue, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon.

It was also said that some sources also said that new management means new plans, and this was after the departure of MediaQuest president and CEO Ms. Jane Basas. With this, the programming line-up changed. Changes also happened after ABS-CBN shows left TV5 and transferred to ALLTV.

Most of the long-running shows of the Kapatid network are continuing. However, The Kingdom, the supposed biggest drama series, has reportedly been decided not to continue.

As of this writing, the management of TV5 has not yet released an official statement regarding this.

Rumor has it that the requested budget reached P200 million, and reportedly, this was not approved. Someone even asked why it had to be made into a series based on a movie that didn’t perform well.

Even though it ranked second in the top grosser of the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2024, it still hasn’t recovered the huge budget that was spent on that film.
