Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on People Power Anniversary
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President spoke on the 1986 EDSA Revolution amid the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the People Power.
Every 25th day of February, the Filipino people commemorate the historic People Power Revolution in EDSA that ousted the late former dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. In the current calendar of the Philippine holidays 2026, February 25 is a special working day.

Amid the calls of the people, Malacañang previously assured that Marcos Jr. will study the proposals to declare February 25 as a regular holiday for the EDSA People Power anniversary. There are also challenges to the President to make it an annual non-working day in the country.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos is mum on the 40th commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution. It is the historic event that led to the exile of the Marcos family. It was in 2022 when the Marcoses returned to the highest power.

Amid the silence of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently spoke about the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary. Based on the Philippine Star, the Vice President claimed that the Filipino people have seemingly forgotten the essence of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
“Nakalimutan na kasi ata ng mga tao ano ‘yung essence ng 1986 EDSA Revolution,” Duterte said.

Based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte further claimed that the organizers and those who march allegedly do not know their message to the Filipino people.
“‘Yung mga nagmamartsa… o nag-oorganize… hindi nila talaga alam kung ano ba talaga ‘yung mensahe nila sa taong bayan,” the Vice President said.

Around 2 years away from the next national polls, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will run for president in 2028 and she has already chosen her running mate. She refused to name the person she asked to be her running mate but claimed that she has long made the offer since a year ago.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she will not be a vengeful president as it is not in her history as a politician. However, she claimed that those who committed wrongs to the government will be held accountable and her running mate will be the in charge for it so she can focus in her job as president.
Duterte’s declaration earned different comments from the people. Amid the varying opinions, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly wants to reconcile with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
