Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Admits She’s Already Recruited her Running Mate for 2028
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President admitted that she has recruited her running mate for the 2028 Elections but she refused to reveal the person.
It is still two years from the 2028 Elections but the recent remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte has undeniably triggered the talks about the next national polls. Her remarks came amid her rift with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr,
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously declared that she is running for president in the 2028 Elections. According to her, she has long questioned the weight of the responsibilities of being the president but she has came to realize that her life is not for hers alone.
Duterte’s declaration of her presidential bid in 2028 came shortly after three (3) impeachment complaints were filed against her before the House of Representatives’ Office of the Secretary General.
In the third impeachment complaint filed against the Vice President, the following grounds were raised against Duterte in the said impeachment rap:
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection
After the Vice President announced her election bid in 2028, a fourth impeachment complaint was filed against Duterte before the House Secretary General’s office. Recently, in an interview with SMNI, she revealed that she has already recruited someone to be her running mate in 2028.
When asked if she already has someone in mind to be her running mate in the 2028 Elections, based on a post on social media, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte initially had a deep sigh. She was smiling as she claimed that it is not part of the questions handed to her but she admitted that she has already recruited someone.
“Eh kasi wala naman ‘yan sa listahan ng mga tanong niyo, eh. Uy sandali ha, oh, andito ba ‘yan? Ito sasabihin ko na lang ha kasi tinanong niyo na eh. Ayaw ko rin naman na… may ni-recruit ako. Hanggang diyan lang ha, hanggang diyan lang ang sasabihin ko,” Duterte said.
Based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte further claimed that she has recruited her running mate in the 2028 Elections last year but she prefers not to talk about the person now. According to her, it is protection for the person until that person gets to decide.
“Ni-recruit ko siya last year pa. Kaso huwag na muna natin niyang pag-usapan. Protektahan natin ‘yung tao hanggang sa makapag-desisyon siya kung anong gagawin niya sa karera niya,” the Vice President said.
