Senator Robin Padilla is willing to run as the running mate of VP Sara Duterte.
This is what Senator Robin Padilla said on criticisms and bashing in case he runs for vice president in Halalan 2028.
Vice President Sara Duterte declared she was running for president in the 2028 national elections. This announcement earned mixed reactions. There were those who expressed their distaste about it and those who expressed their full support.
Among those who fully support this is Senator Robin Padilla, a staunch supporter of former President Rodrigo Duterte. In a previous article, Padilla pushed for an “all-girl” team-up in Halalan 2028, wherein VP Sara is his president and Senator Imee Marcos is his vice president.
When asked if he is willing to run as VP Sara’s vice president, Padilla did not hesitate to answer and expressed that he is actually ready for this possibility. He is willing to do this under one condition: “Basta sinabi ni Digong susunod ako.”
He said he is prepared if the elder Duterte calls on him again, similar to when he urged Padilla to run for the Senate in 2022.
“Eh, pag-utos ni Digong. Pag-utos ni Digong. Walang pwedeng mag-utos sa akin kahit sino, si Digong lang. Kasi ayaw ko talaga ng politika. Alam naman lahat ng mga nanay ko, alam yan. Mga kapatid ko, asawa ko. Basta sinabi ni Digong, susunod ako,” Padilla said.
Along with being ready to become VP Sara’s vice president, he is also prepared for the criticisms that will come with it. He believes that there’s nothing people would throw at him that he has not already heard.
He is also not thin-skinned, and if that’s really how politics works, he is accepting it. However, the issue is that he is accordingly not up for it if truth to be told. He would only do it for Digong.
He added, “Pero siyempre po kung utos ni Digong, wala po akong magagawa. Pero kung pag-uusapan po natin, uli kung sino dapat yung mga mauna, eh dapat mauna po dyan. Si Manang Imee, si Sen. Alan Cayetano, Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Bato, kasi sila po yung mga senior po.”
