Statement of Malacañang on Remarks of Political Analyst Antonio Contreras
Malacañang compared former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte after the latter announced her bid for president in 2028.
Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to meet Naga Mayor Leni Robredo during his upcoming visit to the city. Amid the speculations, the Palace previously claimed that Marcos Jr. will visit the bailiwick of his former rival to inspect the flood control-related structures as well as the rivers in the city.
When asked if there are other things that Marcos Jr. and Robredo are set to discuss, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro previously claimed that it is something that we will see. She stressed that the President is focused in his work and has not mentioned about the upcoming polls during his meetings with the administration.
Amid Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirming her presidential bid in 2028, Malacañang said Marcos Jr. has not mentioned about his bet for president in the next polls and the possible coalitions. The statement of the Palace came amid the rumored unity of the supporters of the admin and the Kakampinks.
Following the statement of the Vice President about her looming presidential bid in the next elections, political science professor Antonio Contreras claimed that former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo can allegedly defeat the candidacy of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte if the current administration will support her.
Malacañang was asked about the statement of the political analyst. According to News5, Palace press officer Atty. Claire Castro compared former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
“Ang lumalabas ay aksyon versus bakasyon. Nagtatrabaho vs. hindi nagtatrabaho. Pro-Philippines vs. not pro any country,” the Palace official said.
Based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro further claimed that the reason of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for announcing her presidential candidacy in 2028 supposedly does not matter. According to the Malacañang official, it is not the focus of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“Sa pananaw po ng ating Pangulo, kung ano man ang dahilan ng bise presidente sa kanyang pag-anunsyo, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter at all dahil hindi po ‘yan ang focus ng Pangulo. Ang focus ng Pangulo, magtrabaho hindi ara mangampanya at ipromote lamang ang sarili para sa susunod na eleksyon,” Castro said.
Shortly after the Vice President made the remarks that gathered opinions, the 4th impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was filed before the House of Representatives’ Office of the Secretary General.
