Vehicles Set for Blessing Damaged After Tree Falls at Our Lady of Manaoag
Several vehicles set for blessing were damaged after a tree falls at Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan.
On Thursday afternoon (January 29, 2026), a supposed day of prayer and gratitude turned into a tragedy after a large acacia tree suddenly fell on vehicles that were about to be blessed at the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan.
The incident happened while several vehicle owners were preparing for the blessing ceremony. Four vehicles were parked in the designated blessing area when the tree collapsed. A commuter van and a newly purchased SUV were heavily damaged after taking the direct impact.

Two other SUVs nearby suffered minor damage. The owners were caught off guard, as the vehicles had just been positioned, and the blessing had not yet started.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. People in the area were able to move away in time, preventing what could have been a more serious situation. Church officials later assured the affected vehicle owners that the basilica management would extend help and support in any way possible.

Emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene. Personnel from the local police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office worked together to clear the fallen tree and secure the area. Their fast response helped restore order and prevent further damage.
Local officials were also informed, and the town mayor personally went to the site to check on the situation and coordinate assistance. Clearing operations continued until the area was safe again for churchgoers and visitors.

The Our Lady of Manaoag Church is widely known as a place where many people bring their vehicles for blessings, believing it offers protection and safety on the road.
