How true is it that PNP executives are sheltering Atong Ang?
A statement from the Philippine National Police stressed that businessman Atong Ang is being protected by PNP executives.
The business tycoon is facing a complaint regarding the case of missing sabungeros. He was accused of being the mastermind behind the death of cockfight enthusiasts.
Two arrest warrants were already released against him, but authorities haven’t located his whereabouts, as of this writing. A previous report stated that he was advised by his lawyer “not to surrender.” The Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that this was unethical advice.

In a recent report from Abante News, it was stated that several police officers are helping businessman Atong Ang in his hiding, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
As a result, the officers, whose names the PNP has not yet revealed, may face criminal and administrative charges. This statement came after collecting information.
“Based on the information we obtained, there are police officers who might be assisting [him],” PNP public information chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said.
Tuaño also said that acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) to hunt down PNP officers who are helping to hide Ang.

“The DIDM obtained the profiles of these individuals from our Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) and is reviewing them with our Legal Service to determine possible administrative and criminal sanctions,” the PNP public information chief said.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has offered a P10 million reward for information leading to Ang’s capture.
Atong Ang was charged with kidnapping with homicide in connection with the missing sabungeros.
Meanwhile, former actress Gretchen Barretto, who was accused of being connected to the case, was already cleared.
