Vice Ganda Throwing Shade At Viva Goes Viral

Here’s what Vice Ganda said that went viral.

Kapamilya superstar comedian Vice Ganda takes a swipe at Viva Films, and her statement has immediately went viral online.

In the MMFF 2025 Gabi Ng Parangal, the Best Actor winner is Vice Ganda, her first-ever award from this major category. The eight official entries were Call Me Mother, Rekonek, Manila’s Finest, Shake, Rattle, and Roll: Evil Origins, I’mPerfect, Love You So Bad, UnMarry, and Bar Boys: After School. The screening started on December 25 until January 14.

Her movie, Call Me Mother, was also the 3rd Best Picture.

After years of dedication to the film festival, she was thrilled to finally receive recognition for her acting talent—particularly as an LGBTQIA+ performer. She proudly declared, “Queer people can be the best actors. A queer person in a gown can be a best actor!”

In It’s Showtime, as the show celebrated her win, she made a remark swiping at Viva Films, which went viral online immediately.

She thanked everyone who supported her and believed in her talent. She then quipped, “Sa Viva Films kahit hindi man lang nagpadala ng bulaklak, maraming salamat pa rin po. Wala talagang anything. Kukubra na lang.”

Meanwhile, despite her remarks, she previously shared that Viva was the first to give her a break in film. When other productions turned down her debut project, Viva took a chance on it—leading to its eventual success. That breakthrough paved the way for her rise as a blockbuster artist, with everything that followed becoming part of her success story.

Her latest film has earned her first Best Actor award.

The comedian-host has been nominated since his festival debut “Sisterakas” in 2012. Other nominations came from “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” the following year and last year’s “And The Breadwinner Is…” for which Vice received a Special Jury Citation.
