On Tuesday (December 9, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that a new low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, as it continues to affect several parts of the country.

The new low-pressure area has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. While it has not yet intensified, it is already influencing weather conditions, especially in areas near Palawan and parts of Luzon.

Cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms are expected, with a higher risk of flooding or landslides in places that may experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

Northern and central Luzon are currently being affected by the combined effects of the shear line and the northeast monsoon, also known as amihan. Areas such as the Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon may continue to have cloudy skies with scattered rains.

Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are advised to stay alert, as sudden downpours can cause flash floods or landslides.

Batanes and Ilocos Norte may experience light rains due to the amihan, though these are not expected to cause major problems. Metro Manila and nearby provinces may still see occasional light rains and cloudy skies.

In the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, isolated rain showers are also possible because of easterly winds coming from the Pacific. For the rest of the country, localized thunderstorms may occur, especially in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA also confirmed that the weather system previously known as Tropical Depression Wilma has already dissipated.

Authorities continue to remind the public to stay updated through official weather advisories, prepare for possible rain-related hazards, and prioritize safety, especially during sudden weather changes.
