Authorities Arrest Convenience Store Manager for Assaulting Resigning Female Crew Member

A convenience store manager was arrested for assaulting a female crew member who had planned to resign from her job.

A store manager in Marikina City was arrested after allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old crew member who had planned to resign from her job. Reports revealed that the incident happened last April 21, when the victim informed her manager that she intended to leave her position.

Instead of a simple conversation, the manager arranged a so-called meeting at a hotel to discuss her decision.

According to the investigation, the victim agreed to meet him because she trusted him and believed the meeting was work-related. However, things changed when they reached the hotel room.

The young woman began to sense that something was wrong and tried to leave, but the suspect stopped her. It was then that the assault happened.

Police later confirmed that the suspect, identified only as “Melvin,” had been on their radar for months. He was listed as the 5th most wanted person in Marikina City for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Authorities arrested him on November 24, 2025, through a warrant of arrest issued for the case. The charges filed against him carry a no-bail recommendation.

Investigators shared that the victim had always been comfortable talking to her manager, often confiding her work concerns to him. This trust made it easier for the suspect to convince her to meet privately, which she believed was part of a proper resignation process.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Marikina City Police Station’s custodial facility while authorities continue to process the case.

It also emphasizes the importance of workplace safety and the need for proper procedures when employees decide to resign, ensuring they are protected from any form of exploitation or harm.
