Sen. Chiz Escudero Posts about the Right To Be Angry Towards Corruption

CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senator called on the public not to be too judgmental despite the right to be angry towards the corruption issues.

Some senators were linked into the supposed flood control corruption in the Philippines. One of them is Sen. Escudero who was the Senate President when the issue broke out. Initially, he was tagged in the issue because of the P30-million campaign donation that he received from a contractor in 2022.

Chiz Escudero admitted that he received a P30-million campaign donation from a contractor in 2022. According to him, the contractor is his friend and is also from Sorsogon. The construction company, the Centerways Construction, was one of the construction firms flagged by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to have allegedly received a lot of projects from the government.

The contractor linked to Sen. Chiz Escudero, Lawrence Lubiano, claimed that his campaign donation to the Senator was his own money. However, aside from the campaign donation issue, former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Robert Bernardo tagged Escudero into the alleged kickback system.

Escudero appeared before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for the investigation of the corruption accusations against him. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) also launched an investigation.

The Comelec recently cleared Escudero over the campaign donation issue. Following it, the Senator released a statement wherein he claimed that he has consistently complied with the election laws since 1998 when he first ran for public office.

“The Commission on Elections decision affirms what we have always believed and practiced — the transparency, honesty, and adherence to the rules matter, and that the truth prevails when the process is fair,” Escudero stated.

Recently, amid the supposed massive corruption issues in the Philippines, Sen. Chiz Escudero stressed that the Filipinos have the right to be angry towards corruption and any abuse of power. However, according to him, the people should allegedly not be too judgmental. Here’s his post:

Previously, Sen. Chiz Escudero claimed that the former House Speaker Martin Romualdez is allegedly behind the supposed “script” and “sarsuela” of the flood control mess and the accusations against the senators.
