Ilocos Cong. Sandro Marcos Tagged by Zaldy Co in Budget Insertion Issue
SANDRO MARCOS – The Ilocos Norte Congressman claimed that he is ready to appear before the investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Zaldy Co has yet to return to the Philippines amid the massive flood control corruption accusations against him. He was one of the government officials tagged by contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya in the alleged kickback system.
While he is away from the country, Zaldy Co implicated Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez into the budget insertion issue. According to him, the President and the former Speaker supposedly ordered a P100-billion budget insertion in the national fund for this year.
Aside from the supposed P100-billion budget insertion, the resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative also claimed that Marcos Jr. and Romualdez allegedly pocketed a P56 billion kickback. He also claimed that he was allegedly told by the former House Speaker to stay out of the country as supposedly ordered by the President.
Recently, aside from implicating the President and the former House Speaker in the budget insertion mess, Zaldy Co also tagged presidential son and Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos in the budget insertion issue as he posted photos of the alleged budget insertions of the young congressman. He stressed that the younger Marcos’ budget insertion allegedly went past P50 billion in just three (3) years.
Sandro Marcos is the eldest son of Pres. Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. He is a first time congressman who is currently the House Deputy Majority Floor leader.
Following the controversial post, Cong. Sandro Marcos immediately released a statement against Zaldy Co wherein he claimed that Co allegedly wants the downfall of the current administration to flee from his legal troubles. According to the presidential Son, the intel allegedly suggested that the former House member made a deal with those who will benefit from the change in the leadership of the country.
Recently, Cong. Sandro Marcos expressed his readiness to appear before the investigation conducted by the ICI as per a post of News5 on social media. The ICI was created upon the order of his own father, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, amid the flood control mess in the country.
Based on the post, Cong. Marcos stressed that “no one is above the law”. He vowed that he is ready to cooperate in the investigation of the ICI as he has nothing to hide.
“I stand ready to cooperate, answer questions, and provide any clarification needed to move this investigation forward… Regardless of position and who you are, no one is above the law. Given that I have nothing to hide, I hereby submit myself for investigation by the ICI,” the presidential son said.
After his son was implicated in the budget insertion mess, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that Zaldy Co’s camp allegedly reached out to him and offered to stop posting videos online in exchange of withdrawing the cancellation of his passport. However, Zaldy Co’s lawyer immediately denied the claim of Marcos Jr.
