Malacañang Slams VP Sara Duterte’s Response on Readiness if Pres. Marcos Resigns
SARA DUTERTE – The Palace reacted to the claim of the Vice President that she is ready to replace Pres. Bongbong Marcos if he decides to resign from his position.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos is faced with several accusations now. Zaldy Co tagged Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the budget insertion mess claiming that they supposedly ordered a P100-billion budget insertion in the 2025 national budget.
Co also claimed that the President and the House Speaker allegedly received a P56 billion kickback. According to him, he was supposedly set to return to the Philippines after the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the President but he was allegedly instructed by Romualdez not to return to the country.
Amid the flood control corruption accusations against him and the calls for him to return to the country and face them, Zaldy Co resigned from being the representative of Ako Bicol Partylist. He claimed that he did not expect that he will be used as the alleged “poster boy” in the administration’s campaign against corruption.
Aside from the accusations of Zaldy Co, presidential cousin and Senator Imee Marcos also recently accused PBBM of alleged illegal drug use. She called on her brother to go home and undergo treatment.
Recently, amid the accusations against Pres. Bongbong Marcos and the calls for him to step down from the position, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that she is ready to be the president if Marcos Jr. resigns. According to her, she always understood that she is the first person in the line of succession if the President steps down.
Malacañang reacted to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirming that she is ready to assume the presidency if Pres. Bongbong Marcos resigns. Based on a report on GMA News, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that the statement of the Vice President is allegedly “not acceptable”.
“Unang-una po, ang Bise Presidente, hindi acceptable, it is not acceptable for a vice president to anticipate the resignation of the president – Presidente na pinagsisigawan nilang bumaba sa puwesto,” Castro said.
The Malacañang press officer also claimed that the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is allegedly “a form of political destabilization”. It allegedly reduces the confidence of the people on the administration.
“Pinapahina niya ang public confidence ng tao sa administrasyon. And those words contribute to the climate of uncertainty and crisis. Kung handa siya, makikita po natin, nag-anticipate siya na mawawala ang Pangulo—iyan po ang balak nila, iyan po ang nasa isip nila, at iyan po ang ginagawa nila ngayon,” the Palace official said.
Based on the report, Atty. Claire Castro also asked if the Filipinos are ready for more “Mary Grace Piattos” — the name whose signature appeared in the controversial acknowledgement receipts of the confidential funds of the offices under the lead of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
”Itanong din natin sa taumbayan: Handa na po ba kayo sa mas marami pang Mary Grace Piattos?” Castro said.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that she is ready to undergo a drug test with Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
