Barangay Kagawad Dies in Motorcycle Accident While Processing Relative’s Death Certificate
A barangay kagawad from Pangasinan lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident on his way to process the death certificate of a relative.
The victim, identified as Edgar Manaois, a kagawad from Barangay Lomboy in Binmaley, left home early with the simple intention of helping his family with important documents at the Dagupan City Hall.
His wife, Leonora Manaois, could not hide her grief as she recalled how Edgar cheerfully said goodbye before leaving their home. The supposed ordinary errand turned into a heartbreaking day for their family.
Police investigators reported that the accident happened in Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City. Edgar was riding behind a utility van and attempted to overtake it. During the maneuver, he crashed into a parked truck along the side of the road.
“Siya ay tumilapon sa kaniyang motorsiklo at tumama siya doon sa gusto niyang overtake na Isuzu utility van,” Dagupan City Police Office spokesperson Police Lt.Col. Roderick Gonzales said.
The impact threw him off his motorcycle and sent him toward the same utility van he tried to pass.
Police Lt. Col. Roderick Gonzales, the spokesperson of the Dagupan City Police Office, explained that Edgar was rushed to the hospital right after the incident. However, despite efforts to save him, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Leonora is now seeking clarity and justice for her husband’s sudden death. She hopes that those responsible, if any, will be held accountable and that the full story behind the accident will be uncovered.
Authorities are currently looking for CCTV footage that may have captured the incident. Investigators are reviewing cameras in the area to gather more information and determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accident.
