Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Reacts To Sen. Imee Marcos’ Accusations vs. PBBM
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City Congressman reacted to the accusations of Senator Imee Marcos against President Bongbong Marcos.
Some government officials joined the rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo members. Aside from Sen. Rodante Marcoleta who hailed Orly Guteza as the “most credible witness ever” at the INC rally after Zaldy Co confirmed his claims, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos also joined the action protest.
However, unexpectedly, Sen. Imee Marcos accused Pres. Bongbong Marcos of drug use. According to the Senator, back then, he was still not her responsibility as their father, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was still around then.
“As he grew older, it became more concerning. I knew that he was using drugs,” the Senator said of the President.
Sen. Imee Marcos did not directly asked Pres. Bongbong Marcos to step down from the presidency but expressed a concern over his health as she called for him to go home and get some treatment. According to her, she can afford for him to lose the presidency but she cannot afford to lose him.
“Hinihingi ko na tayo ay umuwi na. Mamahinga. Alang-alang sa iyong kalusugan. Kaya kong mabigo at mawala sa ’yo ang posisyon pero hindi ko kayang mawala ka sa amin. Ayusin mo ang sarili mo. Magpagamot. Alisin ang droga sa iyong sistema,” Sen. Imee Marcos said.
The claims of Sen. Imee Marcos gathered different reactions from the Filipino people as well as some government officials. One of those who immediately released a statement was Davao City Congressman Paolo Duterte.
In a statement posted on social media, Davao City Paolo Duterte stressed that if the claims of Sen. Imee Marcos is true, “then the Filipino people deserve clarity — not excuses”. He recalled being on the lead to call for a hair follicle drug test for all of the government officials. According to him, the call is not new and personal.
“Ito ay para sa transparency at integridad sa pamahalaan. Pero hanggang ngayon, may mga ayaw sumailalim. Bakit? Anong tinatago? Sino ang pinoprotektahan? Kung walang dapat katakutan, dapat walang tumatanggi,” Duterte said.
According to Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte, in front of the accusations of Sen. Imee Marcos that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is allegedly into drugs, their call for a drug test among all the government officials has become stronger. He stressed that there should be no exemption and special treatment.
“The Filipino people deserve honesty. Kung malinis ka, patunayan mo. Kung hindi, huwag mong gawing tanga ang bayan,” the Davao solon said.
In his post, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that the life and future of the younger generation are at stake. According to him, we should ensure that the leader of the country has enough capabilities.
Following the claim of Sen. Imee Marcos against Pres. Bongbong Marcos over alleged drug use, the Palace immediately reacted.
