Honor Student Barred from Moving-Up Ceremony Over Haircut

An honor student in Tigaon, Camarines Sur was reportedly not allowed to take part in the moving-up ceremony due to his haircut.

Recently, Joel Brutas, a Facebook user, shared a photo of his honor student child who was not allowed to join the moving-up ceremony because of the haircut. The post quickly went viral and received reactions online.

According to Brutas, the ceremony was held outside the school, and they had already paid for the venue. The father and son were already lined up and preparing for the event when they were suddenly stopped and told that the student could not participate.

The father explained that they tried to talk to school officials and asked if his son could at least stay and be part of the program even without joining the march. However, their request was not granted.

Joel was also told that his son’s name would not be called during the ceremony. Because of this, the father and son had no choice but to leave the venue. It was later shared that another student also experienced the same situation and was not allowed to join the ceremony due to a similar reason related to appearance.

Some online users expressed sympathy for the student, pointing out that he worked hard to earn his academic achievements and should have been recognized on such an important day. Others also raised concerns about school policies and how they are applied, especially during special events like graduation or moving-up ceremonies.
