Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Expresses Understanding on Dismay of Filipinos about the Corruption Issues
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President issued a statement amid the massive corruption issues in the Philippines.
Resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co recently released a series of videos wherein he threw corruption accusations against Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. He claimed that the President and the former House Speaker were allegedly involved in the bicam insertion and kickback schemes.
According to Zaldy Co, PBBM and Romualdez allegedly masterminded the bicam insertion scheme and ordered him to insert P100 billion in the 2025 budget. The former House member also claimed that all the kickback in the P100 billion insertion allegedly went to Marcos Jr. and Romualdez.
Co also claimed that the witnesses’ statement to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is allegedly wrong. According to him, the amount was allegedly P56 billion and the whole kickback supposedly went to the President and the former House Speaker.
Malacañang immediately junked the accusations of Zaldy Co against Marcos Jr. Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that it was the President who brought the flood control issue to the surface for the investigation.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement amid the massive corruption issue in the Philippines. Through a statement posted on her social media account, the Vice President expressed her understanding on the dismay of the Filipino people.
“Nauunawaan ko ang galit at pagkadismaya ninyo. Nauunawaan ko ang galit ng taong bayan sapagkat sa nakalipas na ilang buwan, bago pa man sumabog ang issue sa flood control, madalas na akong nakikipag-usap at nakikinig sa mga hinaing ng ating mga kababayang Overseas Filipinos ukol sa transparency, accountability, peace, at security,” she said.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she herself allegedly saw how the House of Representatives supposedly manipulated the budget of the Department of Education. She claimed that instead of following DepEd’s list to address the worsening shortage of classrooms, the budget of DepEd was allegedly turned into a pork barrel.
“Pinili kong huwag sumali sa panggagago sa taong bayan. Sa aking pagbitiw bilang kalihim ng DepEd, ininda ko ang kaliwat-kanan na atake, kasama na ang impeachment, para lamang mapagtakpan nila ang katiwalian sa 2025 budget,” the Vice President said.
Based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte seeks explanation from Pres. Bongbong Marcos on how the supposed corrupt scheme took place under his watch. According to the Vice President, she is one with the millions of Filipinos who are dismayed over a government that drowns in insecurity and greed.
“Kaisa ako ng milyong-milyong Pilipinong nadismaya at nandidiri sa pamahalaang lulong sa insekuridad at walang kabusugang kasakiman. Ang karapatan nating magsalita at magpahayag ang sandigan ng demokrasya. Dapat itong pakinggan ng pamahalaan. Hindi para isantabi at balewalain lamang. We Filipinos deserve better,” she expressed.
Malacañang recently spoke anew on Marcos Jr. being tagged in the corruption issues in the country.
