Authorities Arrest Man for Stealing Canned Goods & Chocolates
A man was arrested after he was caught stealing canned goods and chocolates in the Meralco area of Barangay Batasan Hills.
Recently, the Facebook page Brgy. Batasan Hills shared photos of a man who was arrested for stealing canned goods and chocolates in Batasan Hills. The post garnered various reactions from the community.
According to barangay officials, the quick arrest was made possible through the fast coordination between the complainants and the barangay responders.
Under the leadership of Barangay Captain Jojo Abad, members of Team BARCO immediately went to the area after receiving the report. The man was then brought to Station 6 for proper investigation.
Barangay officials explained that they continue to act swiftly on incidents that directly affect the safety and peace of their community. They also addressed concerns raised by some residents regarding how different cases seem to receive different levels of attention depending on the value involved.
The officials clarified that the barangay can only handle cases within its jurisdiction. Smaller incidents, such as petty theft or minor disturbances, fall under the scope of local barangay action.
However, major crimes involving millions or billions of pesos are handled by national agencies like the DPWH, COA, and the Ombudsman, which have the authority to investigate higher-level corruption or large-scale theft.
Even with limited powers, barangay leaders said they remain committed to promoting fairness and order. They emphasized that justice should not depend on the size of what was stolen, because the law exists to correct wrongdoing regardless of how big or small the violation is.
The barangay also encouraged residents to speak up whenever they experience unfair treatment or witness any form of abuse.

Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ng ating butihing Punong Barangay Kap. Jojo Abad, isang lalaki ang nahuli matapos maaktuhang nagnanakaw ng mga delata at tsokolate sa Meralco area. Dahil sa mabilis na pakikipag-ugnayan ng mga complainant sa barangay, agad rumesponde ang Team BARCO sa pangunguna ni Admin External Ramil Ventura.
Ang suspek ay agad na dinala at dinetine sa Station 6 para sa kaukulang imbestigasyon. Patuloy ang barangay sa pagbibigay ng mabilis na aksyon para sa kaligtasan ng bawat mamamayan.”
