Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on Request of Akbayan Party-list To Release Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s SALN
BATO DELA ROSA – The Duterte-known ally Senator claimed that he will try to convince Vice President Sara Duterte to release her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
All 24 senators of the 20th Congress released a copy of their SALN following the call of Ombudsman Boying Remulla to voluntarily issue a copy of the records of the assets, liabilities, and net worth to the public. It came after the Ombudsman lifted the restrictions on the public access to the SALN of the government officials.
The Office of the Ombudsman is the repository of the SALN of the president, the vice president, the local government officials, and the officers of the constitutional commissions. Following his appointment, one of the first tasks of Remulla was the releasing of a memorandum that lifted the restrictions on the public access to the SALN.
During the tenure of former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who retired in July, a consent of the owner of the SALN is required for the release of the document. After lifting the restrictions, Ombudsman Boying Remulla called on the lawmakers to voluntarily disclose their SALNs.
All senators have released copies of their SALN. House Speaker Bojie Dy also released a copy of his SALN that showed his P74.01 million net worth. Some congressmen also voluntarily released copies of the records of their assets, liabilities, and net worth.
Recently, Akbayan party-list submitted a request to the Office of the Ombudsman for the release of the SALN of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the officials of the constitutional commissions, and former Ombudsman Samuel Martires. According to the group, it is a test if the government will really uphold transparency and accountability.
Amid the request of the Akbayan party-list, Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that he will try to convince Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to release her SALN to the public. Based on a post of News5 on social media, on the appeal of the Akbayan party-list, the Duterte-known Ally also said that there is no problem with disclosing the SALN if the government official is not hiding anything.
“Walang problema… I-kuwan natin siya na ipakita niya… Kung wala kang itinatago, ipakita mo kung gusto mong ipakita,” Sen. Bato dela Rosa said.
