The Manila Public Information Office shared that the activity took place at the NBI Compound along Taft Avenue, led by the Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) through the Manila City Pound. The goal was to prevent the spread of rabies, road accidents, and public disturbances caused by stray animals.

While the city government emphasized safety and responsibility, the operation drew emotional reactions from the public. Many netizens expressed sadness and frustration, urging officials to consider more humane and sustainable solutions.

Some pointed out that the answer should not be to catch and keep the dogs in overcrowded pounds, but rather to implement programs like Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR), which has proven effective in controlling stray animal populations without harming them.

Online users shared their opinions that stray dogs deserve compassion and a chance to live. They said animals are not threats but victims of neglect who simply try to survive in the streets.

Others suggested stronger collaboration between the city government and animal welfare organizations to ensure that stray dogs are treated humanely and given medical care when caught.
