Woman Elicits Reactions Online for Abandoning Cats Beside the Road in Cadiz City
A woman was caught on camera abandoning two cats along the side of the road in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Recently, the Facebook page BACH Project PH shared a photo of a woman abandoning two cats along the side of the road. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
BACH Project PH, a non-profit animal shelter and rescue group based in Negros Island, said the woman was seen leaving the cats near the highway in front of Yee-On Elementary School before driving away.

The two cats, described as a black-and-white tuxedo and a black-and-gray tabby, ran off after being abandoned and are now missing.
The organization expressed concern for the animals’ safety, explaining that leaving them beside a busy road puts them at great risk. Without food, water, or shelter, especially during bad weather, the cats are vulnerable to hunger, illness, and accidents.
BACH also reminded the public that animal abandonment is a form of cruelty and a violation of the Animal Welfare Act (Republic Act 8485, as amended by RA 10631). This law protects animals from neglect, abuse, and abandonment, and those caught violating it may face penalties or imprisonment.
The group is now asking for help from the public to locate the missing cats. They also confirmed that they already have the plate number of the vehicle used by the woman and are seeking legal advice to file a formal complaint.
The organization emphasized that animals are living beings who deserve care and compassion, not neglect. They urged everyone to act responsibly and reminded pet owners that adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment, not something that can be easily thrown away.
