Malacañang To Public over Gov’t Efforts vs. Corruption: “Huwag po tayong masyadong maging negatibo”

Statement of Malacañang on Protesters Rallying Outside ICI amid Flood Control Mess

Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro made a request to the public over the government’s efforts against corruption.

The public called on the government to make the people involved in the supposed multi-billion flood control scam accountable. Undeniably, there were also calls for the resignation of President Bongbong Marcos.

Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure was formed upon the order of Marcos Jr. It was created for the mandate to investigate the supposed corruption in the flood control projects funded by the government.

However, while Malacañang claimed that the ICI flood control probe is doing well and Marcos Jr. is satisfied about it, there were protests outside the headquarters of the commission in Taguig City. Based on a report on GMA News, the rallyists demand accountability.

Recently, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro was asked for a comment on the said protest actions outside the ICI headquarters in Taguig. Based on the report, Castro called on the public to allow the process to take its course and not to be negative on the efforts of the government against corruption.

Based on the report, the Malacañang press officer also said that Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Chief Vince Dizon has already filed cases against those who are involved in the anomalies. She believes that the public should not be impatient.

”Marami po kasing mga kaso. Nakapagsampa na po kahapon si Sec. Vince ng karampatang mga kaso, at hindi po dapat siguro mainip ang ating mga kababayan,” she expressed.

Amid the flood control issue in the Philippines, several senators voluntarily issued copies of their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth. Recently, Malacañang was also asked about the possibility of Marcos Jr. releasing his own SALN.
