Malabon Fire Now Under Control, At Least 1 Hurt

The huge Malabon fire is now under control after reaching Task Force Alpha.

The Malabon fire engulfed a residential area, reaching Task Force Alpha, after it broke out at around 4:48 PM in Banal na Kruz, Sitio 6, Barangay Catmon.

A large residential fire hit Sitio 6, Barangay Catmon, on Wednesday, October 22. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was so huge that it reached Task Force Alpha after it broke out at 4:48 PM.

The fire escalated to the first alarm at 4:49 PM, followed by the second alarm at 4:57 PM, the third at 5:10 PM, the fourth at 5:12 PM, the fifth at 5:24 PM, and eventually reached Task Force Alpha at 5:41 PM.

Based on the latest report, the huge fire displaced several families, and one (1) was hurt and brought to a super health center for medical treatment. Another person experienced hyperventilation.

There was also a firefighter who was bitten by a dog while responding, and he was immediately treated. At 9:47 PM, the fire was declared under control.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has directed the prompt distribution of aid and relief to families affected by the massive residential fire. The mayor directed concerned offices, such as the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWDD), and others, to carry out a swift damage assessment once the fire has been fully extinguished.

Sandoval likewise instructed local departments to open evacuation centers, distribute relief goods and financial aid, and deploy Mobile Jeannie Services, which offer mobile water, shower, and laundry stations, to deliver immediate help to those affected.

On the same day, October 22, a fire also broke out at the office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Quezon City. Fortunately, the documents related to the anomalous flood control projects were safe.
