Woman Falls Victim to Thief Posing as Customer Inside Fast-Food Chain in Manila
A woman fell victim to theft inside a fast-food chain located in a mall in Manila after a man posing as a customer stole her bag.
Around 5:30 in the afternoon on October 4, 2025, the victim Cyrene Batohinog and her companions were eating when the incident happened. They placed her bag beside a child, thinking it was safe since they were seated at the corner of the dining area. Moments later, she suddenly noticed that her bag was gone.
“Habang kumakain kami, nailapag nga po yung bag doon sa side nung bata. So, akala namin safe, kasi nandoon na siya sa pinakacorner na nung kainan. Tapos, parang split seconds lang po na realize ko na, nawawala na po yung bag ko,” Cyrene said.

CCTV footage showed that the suspect took the bag in just a matter of seconds before calmly walking away. The stolen bag contained two mobile phones worth around P55,000, two wallets, ATM cards, IDs, and about P5,000 in cash.
Cyrene shared that retrieving the CCTV footage took some time, which made it harder for them to track down the thief. She expressed hope that authorities would take quick action and help her find justice, even if her belongings could no longer be fully recovered.
“Sana kahit paano bigyan niyo naman kami kahit konting pag-asa. Kung hindi man natin mabawi 100 percent yung gamit na nawala samin, atleast tulungan niyo man lang po kami kahit konti makakuha man lang kami ng hustisya,” the victim explained.
Batohinog immediately reported the incident to the police, and an investigation is now ongoing to identify and locate the suspect.
Cyrene remains hopeful that the suspect will be caught and that her story will encourage others to be more alert. Simple acts of caution, such as keeping bags close and avoiding leaving them unattended, can help prevent similar incidents from happening to others.
