Insects Fly in Agusan del Sur After Powerful Quake Shook Davao Oriental
Insects were seen flying in Agusan del Sur after a strong earthquake shook the town on Friday night, October 10, 2025.
On Friday, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake hits Davao Oriental, which causes damage to various establishments in the area. Moments after the tremor, residents witnessed insects and birds suddenly flying wildly across the sky, as if in panic.
According to locals, the shaking came from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Manay, Davao Oriental. The strong movement of the ground startled many creatures in the area, sending them into a frenzy.

In a video shared by Facebook user Kyla Sabio Cabanos, flocks of birds can be seen rapidly circling the air, clearly disturbed by the quake that had just rattled the earth.
Authorities have since reminded the public to remain calm but alert, and to follow updates from PHIVOLCS regarding possible aftershocks.
Experts explain that animals are naturally sensitive to changes in their surroundings. They can feel subtle vibrations or shifts in the ground before humans do. Because of this, they often become restless or confused before and after an earthquake.

Once the shaking stops and the environment stabilizes, these animals gradually return to their normal behavior. However, some may stay disoriented for a while, especially if their habitats or food sources were affected by the quake.
Others also see this sudden movement of creatures from a spiritual perspective. Some people believe that nature and animals respond to divine power or upcoming events, as mentioned in several Bible passages describing creation reacting to God’s presence.
