Sarah Discaya: Pasig City Orders Closure Of Their Firms Due To PHP 1.1 Billion Unpaid Taxes

The firms owned by Sarah Discaya and her husband were ordered to be closed.

Due to over a billion unsettled taxes, the Pasig City government ordered the shutdown of the firms owned by the couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya.

The Pasig City government has issued closure orders against the nine companies owned by controversial private contractor couple Curlee Discaya and Sarah Discaya. The Pasig Office of the City Administrator and the Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD) released a statement on Friday stating their permits are to be revoked due to serious and repeated violations.

The violations committed included “over P1.1 billion in unpaid taxes… operating without an occupancy permit… [and a] revoked PCAB (Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board) license.”

The nine companies were ordered to close down, and the Discayas have yet to comment on this order.

OCA stated in a report, “These establishments were shut down after the City revoked their business permits due to serious and repeated violations, including over P1.1 billion in unpaid taxes, operating without an occupancy permit, and accreditation license. The companies have long-standing tax deficiencies amounting to more than one billion pesos.”

Moreover, their listed business address has no approved occupancy permit, which makes this illegal, and with their canceled PCAB license, it’s illegal for them to engage in contracting activities.

The 9 Discaya firms are as follows:

  • Alpha and Omega General Contractor and Development Corp
  • Amethyst Horizon Builders and General Contractor and Development Corporation
  • Elite General Contractor and Development Corporation
  • Great Pacific Builders and General Contractor
  • St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor and Development Corp
  • St. Timothy Construction Corp
  • Waymaker OPC
  • YPR General Contractor and Construction Supply
  • St. Matthew General Contractor & Development Corporation

To recall, the Discaya firms are at the center of the controversial flood control issue after several government officials alleged that these companies were being used to siphon public funds through ghost or substandard projects.
