Sol Aragones had this fiery statement at an event
Laguna Governor Sol Aragones had this reaction when she felt that she was not being acknowledged by her constituents.
Aragones was first known as one of the reporters of ABS-CBN. For many years, she was part of the Kapamilya news and current affairs programs.
Her political career started in 2013 when she ran for Laguna’s 3rd district representative. She won, and this continued until 2022. Then, she ran for governor in 2022, but she was defeated by then-incumbent Governor Ramil Hernandez.
For the 2025 midterm elections, Sol Aragones tried her luck once again and ran for governor. She won, but she was criticized for pledging her alliance with Senator Rodante Marcoleta, who was mainly the proponent of ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
Just recently, a video clip from an event in Laguna went viral. In the video clip, shared by @elbertsss on Reddit under r/laguna, Aragones took notice of the people’s reaction when she entered the venue.
“Napansin ko lang, pagpasok ko, parang medyo natulala ang marami. Ang iba, ayaw tumayo, ang iba ayaw pumalakpak, ang iba tila nag-iisip, ‘totoo ba ito?‘” the Laguna governor said.
Then, Aragones said that this is okay and that people should relax. She also said that there was no need for people to be sad that day; instead, they should be happy.
“Dahil pinili ni Sol Aragones na hindi mamersonal. Pinili ni Sol Aragones na ibigay and scholarship ninyo sa halip na putulin ko,” the Laguna Governor said.
In the comment section of this post, the former ABS-CBN reporter received negative reactions. She was criticized for making it sound like her constituents are indebted to her. For some, that statement was inappropriate and reminded Aragones that she is a public servant. Here are some comments.
