Man Dies After Being Hit by Falling Coconut Tree in Quezon
A man tragically lost his life after a coconut tree he was working on fell and struck him in San Andres, Quezon.
The victim, identified as Alvin, 38 years old and a resident of Sitio Kalamias in Barangay Villa Reyes, San Narciso, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
According to police reports, the incident happened around 2:00 p.m. while Alvin was cutting down a coconut tree with a chainsaw, assisted by his helper. At first, the tree appeared to be falling in a safe direction.

However, it unexpectedly hit another tree on its way down, causing it to change course. Instead of falling clear of him, the heavy trunk came crashing toward Alvin.
Witnesses said he tried to move out of the way, but the tree struck him before he could escape. His helper quickly ran to nearby houses and barangay officials to ask for help. Alvin was rushed to the hospital, but doctors could no longer revive him.
The incident shocked the community, as many residents knew Alvin as a hardworking man who earned his living through manual labor. it also reminds the public of the dangers faced daily by lumber cutters and farm workers, who often deal with unpredictable accidents despite taking precautions.

Tree-cutting may look routine, but even the most experienced workers face risks beyond their control. A miscalculation or an unexpected change in the tree’s fall can lead to fatal consequences.
For his family, the accident is heartbreaking. While they grieve his loss, neighbors and local officials are extending their support to help them cope with the tragedy. The incident emphasizes the importance of safety in such work, where one wrong move can mean the difference between life and death.
