Printing Shop Attendant Loses Mobile Phone to Thief in Tondo, Manila
A printing shop attendant in Tondo, Manila, lost his cellphone to a thief while he was asleep, and the incident was caught on CCTV.
On early Sunday morning (September 28, 2025), a man guarding a printing shop in Tondo, Manila, lost his mobile phone to a thief while sleeping.
In the video, a woman can be seen stopping along Blumentritt Road around six in the morning. She walked closer to the shop and looked around as if checking the area. Moments later, she quickly grabbed the cellphone placed beside the guard, who had dozed off, and ran away.
The shop owner shared that the attendant, his nephew, had fallen asleep while watching a K-drama. He explained that people nearby thought the woman was just another customer, not realizing she was about to steal.
“’Yung mga tricycle dito may nag-ano na dito, nakita na nila, napansin, akala customer lang,” shop owner RJ Alipat said.
This is not the first time such an incident has happened at the shop. In fact, it is already the third time that a guard’s cellphone has been stolen. Previous CCTV footage also showed another thief taking advantage of a guard who was asleep, while another case involved someone stealing the shop’s coin bank containing nearly fifteen thousand pesos in savings.
Because of these repeated incidents, the owner decided to install CCTV cameras for safety. The latest footage is now being used to help identify the suspect.
Barangay officials confirmed that the woman involved in the recent theft is not a resident of their area. They have started working with the police to track her down and are reviewing the footage closely.
Local officials also reminded the public to be extra careful with their belongings, especially with the holiday season approaching. They stressed the importance of keeping valuable items secured to avoid falling victim to crimes like this.
