Motorcycle Thief Arrested After Hitting Into Couple Riding Motorcycle in QC
A motorcycle thief was arrested after crashing into a couple riding a motorcycle along Republic Avenue in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
On Friday night, September 26, 2025, a 37-year-old man was arrested after hitting a couple in Quezon City. The authorities discovered that the motorcycle he was using had been stolen earlier that day.
CCTV footage showed the suspect driving without a helmet as he counterflowed into the opposite lane, hitting the couple’s motorcycle head-on. Both riders fell to the ground, and the suspect was also thrown off his bike.
The couple sustained injuries and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. When the vehicles were brought to the Traffic Sector 5 office, police discovered that the suspect’s motorcycle matched the description of a stolen one reported earlier.
The owner, who thought at first that a relative had borrowed the motorcycle, later confirmed through CCTV footage in their neighborhood that it had been stolen.
Investigators later identified the suspect in the footage, showing him carrying sacks along Loro Street in Barangay Commonwealth before pushing and eventually riding off with the stolen motorcycle.
The victim personally identified both his vehicle and the suspect at the police station. Records also showed that the suspect had a previous case of malicious mischief back in 2018.
Despite the evidence, the man denied stealing the motorcycle, claiming that it was pawned to him for P35,000 and that he did not know it was stolen. He insisted that he simply lost control and crashed.
The suspect is now in police custody and faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and damage to property, as well as violation of the Anti-Carnapping Law.
