Twin Girls Killed in Valenzuela Fire Caused by Firecrackers

A tragic fire in Valenzuela City claimed the lives of twin girls after a fire broke out in a residential area due to firecrackers.

On Wednesday morning (September 24, 2025), a fire broke out in a residential area along Pisces Street in Barangay Marulas. The fire took the lives of two young twin sisters and left seven others injured.

The victims, known by their nicknames Ronamie and Ronalyn, were only seven years old. They were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival. Their sudden passing deeply saddened neighbors, who described the girls as cheerful and full of life.

Among the injured was a 13-year-old girl who suffered severe burns, along with six other residents ranging from a 5-year-old boy to women aged 7, 9, 31, 52, and 63. All of them are now being treated at the Valenzuela Medical Center.

Initial investigations by the Bureau of Fire Protection revealed that the fire may have started from firecrackers, particularly a type of kwitis that had been delivered to the area. Reports said the delivery was linked to a man identified only as “Rogie.”

The fire erupted around 11:33 a.m., quickly spreading to nearby homes. Four families were affected before firefighters managed to control the flames within 15 minutes.

Authorities immediately raised the first alarm as the fire spread through the compound, forcing residents to flee their homes in panic. Though the fire was contained quickly, the damage it caused both physically and emotionally, was devastating.

Police and fire officials are continuing their investigation to determine responsibility for the storage of firecrackers in the residential compound. Residents, meanwhile, are calling for stricter monitoring of firecracker distribution to prevent similar incidents.
