Nancy Binay denied the corruption accusation against her
Makati Mayor Nancy Binay reacted to the accusation that she received kickbacks from flood control projects.
Binay has been in the political arena for many years already, following in the footsteps of her father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay. After her third term as a Senator, Binay ran for mayor in Makati, and she won.
During the Senate inquiry on anomalous flood control projects on Thursday, September 25, former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo implicated that Binay was involved in the anomalies in infrastructure deals.

Senator Chiz Escudero and former Senator Bong Revilla were also mentioned. Both of them have already denied the allegations against them.
Bernardo claimed that a close aide of Binay, identified as Carleen Villa, arranged a deal with him, asking for a 15 percent cut in exchange for government projects.
Following the allegations against her, Mayor Nancy Binay spoke and defended herself, based on the report from Inquirer. “I am shocked and saddened that I am being implicated in the anomalies within the DPWH. The accusations against me are not true,” the former Senator said.

Binay also said that she is quietly doing her job as the Mayor of Makati, and it was quite surprising for her that she was suddenly being dragged into this issue.
For the female politician, involving her is just a way of diverting people’s attention from the real issue. “It is surprising that we are being used to divert attention from those who should truly be held accountable in this issue,” she said.
Mayor Nancy Binay also stressed that it is easy to accuse anyone and create false and malicious statements. Then, she emphasized that her track record “has always been above board and beyond a shadow of doubt.”
