This is why Heart Evangelista chose to miss the rally last September 21.
Kapuso actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista reveals the reason why she chose not to attend the anti-corruption rally.
A lot of celebrities have appeared at the September 21 rally – the Baha sa Luneta in Luneta Park, Manila, and the Trillion Peso March at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City. While a lot have appeared, a lot were also missing, and people online were curious as to why they were not there.
Recently, while the emotions were still intense as the congressional hearings continued regarding the anomalies in the flood control projects, Heart Evangelista, whose husband is Senator Chiz Escudero, revealed why she missed the anti-corruption protest.
In an Instagram Live, she expressed, “Why wasn’t I in the rally? You think I didn’t want to be in the rally? You think I don’t have a voice? You think I’m not frustrated? You think hindi ako napipikon? Pikon naman din ako ah–– bakit hindi ako Pinoy?”
According to her, she feared that the threats from people online who said they would strip her if they saw her at the protest might actually be carried out. She stressed that, like a lot of Filipinos, corruption also would never sit well with her. She’s just as angry and just as frustrated.
“For you questioning me why I’m not in the rally–– you think I don’t have a burning flame in my heart? That I feel like I have a lump in my neck or my throat? That I have nothing to say? I have so much things to say because it is unfair,” she added.
Heart empathized with everyone who joined the rally and expressed hope that those in position would finally do the right thing.
Meanwhile, the celebrities who were present at the anti-corruption protest are TV host Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Donny Pangilinan, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Darren Espanto, Jackie Gonzaga, Maris Racal, Elijah Canlas, Andrea Brillantes, Angel Aquino, Gardo Versoza, DJ Chacha, Alex Medina, Julia Barretto with brother Leon and their mother Marjorie Barretto, Tessie Tomas, Iza Calzado, Catriona Gray, Gabby Garcia, Kahlil Ramos, Jane De Leon, Benjamin Alves, Jerald Napoles, Kim Molina, Dasuri Choi, Faith Da Silva, Rhian Ramos, Saab Magalona, Ion Perez, Bianca Gonzales, Nadine Lustre, Dingdong Avanzado, Mika Salamanca, Ralph de Leon, Ivana Alawi, KD Estrada, David Licauco, Dustin Yu, and Jodi Sta.
