PAGASA Says Easterlies and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (September 8, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel Villamil reported that the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.

The easterlies will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Luzon.

For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, we can expect generally fair weather today,” Villamil said.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

“A high chance of rain is expected over these areas, so we should prepare for the possible threat of floods and landslides,” Villamil said.

However, fair weather condition is expected over Palawan and the rest of the Visayas, particularly in Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas. The same condition is expected in the rest of Mindanao, especially in the Bangsamoro Region and Soccsksargen.

Severe Tropical Storm Tapah was located as of 3 a.m. at 910 km west of extreme Northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour with gusts of up to 115 kph.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any parts of the country.
